    Logan,
I just read you article in Sojourners and I am so glad you are doing what is so badly needed in our churches. I have been trying to get my church to take on these important discussions but it is difficult.
What I want to ask you is that do you speak at different venues? I am the excutive director of my Veterans for Peace chapter 115 and I am in charge of lining up speakers for a peace retreat we call Pigstock. You can check out the website above to give you and idea of what Pigstock is. We are having a chapter meeting this Thursday and if you would be interested in being a speaker ( we pay all travel expenses) let me know. If yes then I would bring your and your organization up to the membership and we would decide on whether to give you a formal invitation. This year’s event is July 9th.
    Thank you and God bless,

    Greetings,

I have just read your very compelling article in the Sojourners magazine written by Legan Mehl-Laituri. He mentioned that he had been in contact with Christian Peacemakers Teams.
Our son Pierre Shantz has worked with them since 1997. He was in Palestine / Israel for 2-3 terms.

I shall read with real interest the information on your web site.

I believe that much of it is very applicable to the work that I am involved with as a chaplain with Correctional Service Canada. Inmates also suffer terribly from the horror of their crimes.

    Your truly
    David Shantz

I checked out the site, but unfortunately, I have other plans for that week. Thanks for the interest though, and have fun this summer, I hope it is warmer than some of the past events seem to have been!

I am currently active duty in the Navy and I would be glad to leave and join your cause. Please give me any information you know of on how I can attain this. Thanks and God bless!

We don’t help people “leave” the military, we help folks figure out what it is that God calls them to. When that is to seek discharge, for example, we support them. You should email us to start a conversation – info@centurionsguild.org

I just caught the tail end of Tony Campolo’s Red Letter Christians on TV. Inyour interview, you commented about separating our Christianity from our country (something similar to that). I like that statement. I’ve been thinking about that for about a year now, and those words are excellent. What were they exactly?

I think some Christians in the USA are too caught up in patriotism (the world’s kingdom) and not caught up in living in God’s Kingdom. God decided to put some Christians in the USA and He decided to put other Christians elsewhere in the world. So, when I consider the Body of Christ world-wide, I don’t think I should over emphasize my residence and citizenship in the USA. Yes, we are to be good citizens, but, we are to “Seek first His Kingdom and righteousness”.

We Christians need to be aware of what kingdom we need to be focused on.

Good interview on Campolo’s show. That ties in perfectly with the provocative thoughts of Campolo. He sure has a different perspective that helps me assess what I am believing and doing.

Thanks for the encouragement. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen it yet (and the interview was done back in July), so can’t remember the exact quote… Looking forward to seeing it and getting in more in depth as more comments make their way to our incredibly disorganized website :)
